These General Terms and Conditions (hereinafter: GTC) govern the conditions of motorcycle and bicycle bookings made via the www.chopperrent.hu website, as well as the rental relationship.
During the operation of the service, tasks and lessor responsibilities are divided as follows:
Operator of the Website and service, and Lessor of the vehicles:
Company Name: DDHD Szolgáltató és Kereskedelmi Kft. (hereinafter: DDHD Kft.)
Registered Office / Pick-up point: 1021 Budapest, Lipótmezei út 12/B. ground floor 2.
Company Registration Number: 01-09-694382
Tax Number: 11670786-2-41
Email: info@chopperrent.hu
Scope of Responsibility: DDHD Kft. is the operator of the website and the exclusive lessor of the entire vehicle fleet (motorcycles and bicycles). Based on authorization from the vehicle owners, DDHD Kft. is entitled to lease the vehicles to third parties. Maintenance and delivery are organized by DDHD Kft., which manages online bookings and issues invoices for rental fees.
Renter / Payer: The website allows purchasing services as gifts. In such cases, the invoice is issued under the purchaser’s (Payer’s) details. The actual operator of the vehicle (Renter) must be present in person at the on-site handover, must meet all requirements concerning documents and driving licenses, and must sign the rental agreement in their own name. The Renter is deemed the temporary operator of the vehicle from handover until its return.
Delivery Responsibility:
Bicycles: Delivery of bicycles is performed by DDHD Kft., which is responsible for their integrity during transport.
Motorcycles: Delivery of motorcycles is performed by DDHD Kft. or an independent transport partner. Responsibility for the vehicle’s integrity during transport is assumed by DDHD Kft. or the transport partner.
Conclusion of Contract: The rental relationship is established upon online booking and payment of the fee. The contract is concluded with DDHD Kft. as Lessor on the basis of the documents signed at the on-site handover.
The Renter may take possession of the rented vehicle (motorcycle or bicycle) exclusively if they fully comply with the following conditions at the handover location.
2.1. Required Documents (For all vehicles):
Identification: The Renter is obliged to present a valid, original identity card (or passport) and address card.
Data Processing: By signing the rental agreement, the Renter consents to the Lessor recording and processing document details during the rental period in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
2.2. Driving License (Exclusively for motorcycle rentals):
A strict condition for motorcycle handover is presenting a valid, unrestricted category “A” driving license.
Age and Experience Restrictions: To ensure the safe operation of heavy motorcycles (choppers, cruisers), a further strict condition of rental is that the Renter must be at least [enter age limit here, e.g. 24] years of age, and must have held the aforementioned valid category “A” driving license for at least [enter experience here, e.g. 2] years. If the Renter fails to meet these conditions, the Lessor is entitled to refuse vehicle handover.
The validity period of the driving license must not expire before the scheduled end of the rental period.
Presenting a driving license is not required for bicycle rentals.
2.3. Amount and Payment of Security Deposit (Kaució): An essential condition for vehicle handover is providing a security deposit, which primarily serves as coverage for potential damages, deficiencies, and surcharges.
Motorcycle deposit: Standardly 300,000 HUF / vehicle, unless a different custom amount is stated on the product page of the specific motorcycle (on www.chopperrent.hu).
Bicycle deposit: Standardly 50,000 HUF / vehicle, unless a different custom amount is listed on the specific bicycle’s product page.
Payment method: The security deposit must be provided at the handover location in cash or via credit card payment (pre-authorization/hold). The cardholder must be present in person in all cases when signing the rental agreement.
2.4. Refund and Use of Security Deposit:
Refund: If the Renter returns the vehicle at the end of the rental period in the contractual condition as handed over (undamaged, clean, and with a full tank in the case of motorcycles), and no surcharge payment obligation has arisen, the Lessor returns the deposit immediately upon vehicle return, or initiates the release of the card hold. (Note: The actual release time for bank card holds depends on the internal procedures of the Renter’s issuing bank, over which the Lessor has no control.)
Use, deductions: The Lessor is entitled to unilaterally deduct from the deposit amounts for damages attributable to the Renter (repairs, replacement parts), missing fuel plus refueling convenience fee, excess mileage fees (in case of exceeding mileage limits), call-out/rescue fees (in case of at-fault accidents), fines and administrative fees arising from traffic violations, as well as a fixed administrative surcharge of 50,000 HUF for replacement and administrative procedures in the event of losing factory keys or vehicle registration documents.
No interest shall accrue on the deposit amount held by the Lessor.
Should damages or payment obligations exceed the deposit amount, the Renter is obliged to promptly reimburse the difference to the Lessor based on the issued invoice.
Ordering services takes place via the website. Rental fees and cancellation terms are structured as follows.
3.1. Booking and Payment of Rental Fee:
Bookings become final upon selecting dates on the www.chopperrent.hu website and paying the full rental fee.
Rental duration is calculated in 24-hour cycles starting from the exact handover time. The minimum rental period is 1 rental day (24 hours). Exceeding 24 hours automatically counts as a new rental day. (For example: a 23-hour rental from Tuesday 12:00 to Wednesday 11:00 counts as 1 rental day; however, a 25-hour rental from Tuesday 12:00 to Wednesday 13:00 counts as 2 rental days.)
Payment of the rental fee may be made via online credit card payment during booking, or by advance cash payment at the Lessor’s office. DDHD Kft. issues electronic invoices in compliance with current statutory provisions based on data provided by the Renter (Payer).
Online credit card payment: Online payments are processed through the secure, encrypted system of Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd.). Credit card data is not accessible to the Lessor and is not stored in its IT systems.
Terms and deadline for in-person cash payment: When selecting cash payment, the Renter must pay the full rental fee in person at the Lessor’s registered office/office (1021 Budapest, Lipótmezei út 12/B. ground floor 2) within 72 hours of placing the online booking, and at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled rental start.
Prior coordination requirement (Cash payment): The Renter must coordinate the timing of the in-person cash payment in advance by phone with the Lessor at +36 20 560 4204 to ensure smooth processing and staff availability.
Payment default and automatic cancellation: If cash payment of the rental fee is not completed within the 72-hour deadline or by 24 hours prior to the rental start, the advance booking is deemed forfeited and the system automatically cancels it without prior notice. The reserved vehicle immediately becomes available for booking by other renters.
Security deposit for cash rentals: Advance cash payment of the rental fee serves solely to validate the booking; the security deposit detailed in Section 2.3 must still be provided by the Renter upon actual vehicle handover (in cash or card hold).
3.2. Cancellation, Refund Terms, and “Rain Guarantee”: Given the nature of the service, the Lessor applies the following cancellation and refund rules:
Free cancellation (48 hours): The Renter is entitled to cancel the booking free of charge up to 48 hours prior to the scheduled handover time.
Force majeure: In the event of provable, unavoidable external events (force majeure), the full rental fee paid will be refunded.
Rain guarantee: In case of adverse weather (rain), 100% of the paid rental fee is credited towards a future date. The booking may be rescheduled once free of charge to a new date within 3 weeks of the original date, subject to available capacity.
Late cancellation and No-show: If cancellation occurs within 24 hours prior to handover, or if the Renter (or gift recipient) fails to show up at the handover time (No-show), the paid rental fee belongs entirely to the Lessor and no refund is available.
Lessor refusal due to unfitness (Default): If at the handover location the Lessor (or its representative) observes that the Renter is manifestly unfit to operate the motorcycle safely (e.g., under the influence of alcohol or other mind-altering substances, or clearly lacks the physical strength or riding experience required to safely handle and support the vehicle), the Lessor is entitled to refuse handover with immediate effect for accident prevention reasons. In this case, service performance fails due to the Renter’s fault. The Lessor will refund 80% of the pre-paid rental fee to the Renter, retaining the remaining 20% as liquidated damages. In case of delivery: If the Renter requested delivery and refusal due to unfitness occurs after delivery to the external location has already taken place, 100% of the pre-paid delivery fee belongs to the Lessor and cannot be refunded.
Refund deadline: For all eligible cancellations or force majeure cases, the Lessor initiates approved refunds within 2 business days to the Payer’s bank card via the original payment method (Stripe).
3.3. Mileage Limits and Excess Mileage Fee (Exclusively for Motorcycles):
1-day rental: For 1-day rentals, the maximum allowable distance is 400 km.
Excess mileage fee: If the Renter exceeds 400 km during a 1-day rental, an excess mileage fee of 150 HUF / km is payable upon return for each additional commenced kilometer. The Lessor is entitled to deduct this amount from the security deposit.
Multi-day rentals: For continuous rentals of two or more days, there is no mileage limit; motorcycle use is with unlimited kilometers.
No mileage restrictions apply to bicycle rentals.
3.4. Geographic and Road Use Restrictions (Exclusively for Motorcycles): To protect the vehicles, the Renter must comply with the following strict road and area restrictions:
Distance restriction: Motorcycles may be used within a maximum radius of 400 road kilometers from Budapest, within the territory of the European Union (EU). Travel beyond this distance can be arranged flexibly based on prior consultation and custom quotation.
Prohibition of highway use: Motorcycles must not be driven on highways! (Rental fees do not include vignette/toll fees). If the Renter breaches this rule, they must fully reimburse all official surcharges and fines resulting from unauthorized road use, plus the Lessor’s administrative costs.
Material breach of contract: If the Renter violates these prohibitions (takes the motorcycle abroad or uses it on highways), it constitutes a material breach of contract. In such cases, the Renter is liable—regardless of fault—for full compensation of any damage caused to the motorcycle (up to replacement value), the full cost of repatriation, and the Lessor is entitled to immediately retain the entire security deposit.
3.5. What the Rental Fee Includes:
The rental fee includes the right to use the vehicle during the rental period, mandatory third-party liability insurance (KGFB), and provision of proper tires and lubricants.
Rental fee does not include: Fuel costs, traffic or parking fees, fines, CASCO (comprehensive) insurance (motorcycles have no CASCO), service fees exceeding tire puncture materials, and rescue/transport costs arising from misuse or at-fault incidents.
3.6. Vehicle Delivery:
3.7. Gift Cards:
Vehicle handover and return follow a strict protocol to prevent disputes between the parties.
4.1. Handover-Return Procedure:
The Lessor hands over vehicles in proper technical and aesthetic condition, equipped with mandatory and promised accessories (e.g., factory keys, vehicle registration, repair kit, bicycle lock).
Upon handover, the parties record a Handover-Return (Condition Assessment) Protocol detailing any pre-existing vehicle damages, scratches, and—for motorcycles—the fuel level and odometer reading.
At the end of the rental period, taking into account normal wear and tear, the Renter must return the vehicle undamaged, in a clean condition, together with all received accessories and documents, at the Lessor’s depot (or the pre-agreed delivery point).
Cleaning surcharge: Normal dirt from daily use is cleaned by the Lessor free of charge. However, if the vehicle is returned in an extremely soiled state (e.g., caked in thick mud), the Lessor is entitled to charge a gross cleaning fee of 5,000 HUF, automatically deducted from the security deposit.
Protective Gear and Hygiene: For hygiene and sizing reasons, the Lessor does not provide motorcycle protective gear (helmets, gloves, motorcycle apparel). Providing legally mandated gear (e.g., helmets) and other safety apparel is solely the Renter’s responsibility. In the absence of a proper helmet, the Lessor is entitled to refuse motorcycle handover.
4.2. Fuel Policy and Refueling Convenience Fee (Exclusively for Motorcycles):
Motorcycles are always handed over with a full fuel tank, and the Renter is obliged to return them with a full fuel tank.
If the motorcycle is returned without a full tank, the Lessor is entitled to charge the current market price of missing fuel plus a gross refueling convenience fee of 3,000 HUF.
This amount is automatically deducted on site from the security deposit.
The Renter must refuel the motorcycle with quality fuel meeting factory specifications (minimum 95 octane). All damages and repair costs resulting from improper fuel use shall be borne by the Renter.
4.3. Delayed Return:
Bookings are for a fixed term. The Renter must return the vehicle by the time specified in the rental agreement.
If the Renter returns the vehicle late and delay exceeds 1 hour, the Lessor is entitled to charge the fee for an additional full rental day.
The Renter must promptly notify the Lessor by phone of any circumstances impeding timely return (e.g., traffic obstruction, accident). Delays exceeding 12 hours without notice may lead the Lessor to presume embezzlement under Section 372 of the Criminal Code, entitling the Lessor to file an immediate police report and request vehicle circulation.
The Renter is obliged to use the vehicles (motorcycles and bicycles) in accordance with the user manual, with due care, in a manner appropriate to their intended purpose, and to preserve their condition.
5.1. General Prohibitions (Applicable to all vehicles): The rented vehicle is strictly prohibited from being:
subleased or loaned to another person, or having its operation transferred to anyone else,
driven under the influence of alcohol, drugs, sleeping pills, hallucinogens, or any substances affecting responsiveness and consciousness,
used for driving instruction, illegal transport, or commercial passenger transport for hire,
used off-road, on racetracks, in motorsport events, or for preparation/training for such events.
cleaned with high-pressure washers (e.g., pressure washers). High-pressure water can cause severe and permanent damage to electronics, bearings, and chrome parts. The Lessor completely disclaims liability for failures resulting from such cleaning; all repair costs (e.g., water ingress, short circuits) shall be borne entirely by the Renter.
subjected to tire burnout, over-revving at unreasonably high RPMs (hitting the rev limiter), or maneuvers causing sudden, aggressive loads on the clutch and drivetrain. Such mechanical abuse constitutes improper use, and full repair costs for resulting damages (e.g., burnt clutch, tire wear) are immediately payable by the Renter.
Breaching these prohibitions entitles the Lessor to terminate the agreement with immediate effect, repossess the vehicle, retain the entire deposit, and hold the Renter fully financially liable for all damages.
5.2. Breakdowns, Repairs, and Recovery (Motorcycles and Bicycles): During the rental period, the Renter must handle the vehicle and resolve minor en-route issues (such as punctures) as if it were their own vehicle.
Punctures: In case of a puncture, the Renter must repair the fault on site themselves.
Technical failure (Not caused by Renter): If a technical breakdown occurs that cannot be resolved on site by the Renter and is demonstrably not due to misuse, the Lessor will arrange rescue, on-site repair, or a replacement vehicle at its own cost, subject to capacity.
At-fault breakdown and Accidents (Renter fault): If the vehicle becomes inoperable or requires recovery due to Renter fault (e.g., skidding, fall, accident, incorrect fuel), all costs of rescue, transport back to the depot, and delivering any replacement vehicle shall be borne by the Renter. The Lessor may deduct this from the deposit and invoice any balance. The Lessor is not obliged to provide a free replacement vehicle; a new vehicle may be provided based on individual assessment and payment of delivery fees.
Immediate stoppage obligation upon irregularity: If the Renter detects any abnormality during operation (e.g., unusual noise, fluid leakage, clear technical fault), they must immediately stop using the vehicle, park it in a safe place, and inform the Lessor without delay. Failure to comply makes the Renter fully liable for all subsequent aggravated damages.
Exclusion of consequential damages: The Renter acknowledges that the Lessor assumes no liability and cannot be held liable for indirect or consequential damages or losses resulting from vehicle breakdown (including but not limited to: missed programs, loss of profit, missed connections, or lost pre-paid accommodation costs).
Prohibition of unauthorized repairs: Without explicit prior permission (by phone or email) from the Lessor, the Renter must not have third parties (e.g., external workshops) perform repairs, parts replacements, or dismantling on the vehicle. Unauthorized repair costs will not be reimbursed, and the Renter is liable for any further damage arising from improper intervention.
5.3. Theft Protection (Bicycles and Motorcycles):
When not in use, the Renter must secure the vehicle against theft at all times using all available means.
For bicycles: The Lessor (DDHD Kft.) provides a safety lock. When unattended, the Renter must secure the bicycle to a fixed, immovable object. Failing to use the lock constitutes gross negligence.
For motorcycles: The Renter must lock the motorcycle, activate the steering lock, and keep the factory key and registration document on their person at all times (leaving them in vehicle storage compartments is strictly prohibited).
The Renter acknowledges full financial liability for damages to the rented vehicle and its disappearance as set out below.
6.1. Insurance and Liability (Motorcycles):
Motorcycles specified in the rental agreement have valid Mandatory Third-Party Liability Insurance (KGFB).
Motorcycles DO NOT have CASCO (comprehensive) insurance. * Accordingly, the Renter bears full financial liability, up to the motorcycle’s replacement (market) value, for any damage occurring during the rental period (including at-fault falls, tip-overs, or collisions). Damages are recovered primarily from the security deposit; any exceeding amount must be paid promptly based on the invoice issued by the Lessor.
The Renter also bears full financial liability for damages caused with the motorcycle if the insurer refuses or only partially pays compensation to third parties due to reasons attributable to the Renter (e.g., alcohol influence, unauthorized use).
6.2. Theft and Total Loss (Motorcycles and Bicycles):
Bicycle theft: As bicycles cannot be insured, in the event of theft, unauthorized appropriation, or total destruction, the Renter bears 100% financial liability up to the full replacement value of the bicycle. The deposit belongs to the Lessor, and the Renter must pay the difference.
Motorcycle theft: In case of theft, if the Renter cannot hand over the ignition key and original registration document intact to the Lessor , or if it is proven that the vehicle was not properly locked, the Renter is obliged to reimburse the full market value of the rented motorcycle.
In case of theft, write-off, or total destruction of any vehicle, the full security deposit automatically belongs to the Lessor.
Official seizure: If authorities seize the rented vehicle for reasons attributable to the Renter (e.g., criminal offense, drunk driving, illegal transport), the Renter must fully reimburse the vehicle’s full market value, all official costs of seizure and release, and lost profit (in the form of daily rental fees) to the Lessor.
6.3. Procedure in Case of Accident and Personal Injury:
In case of an accident involving personal injury or property damage, the Renter must request police intervention.
The Renter must obtain all possible details of parties involved (other vehicle registration number, driver’s name, address, witness contacts, photographs of the scene).
The Renter must complete the European Accident Statement (blue-yellow form).
The Renter has no settlement authority and cannot make legally binding admissions on behalf of or to the detriment of the Lessor.
In case of accident, vandalism, or theft, the Renter must inform the Lessor immediately by phone.
6.4. Final Provisions and Dispute Resolution:
By signing the rental agreement (paper-based) and the strict liability statement, the Renter irrevocably consents to the Lessor disclosing their personal data to authorities (police, public surveillance) if official proceedings arise from infractions, offenses, or unpaid surcharges (e.g., unauthorized highway use).
The contracting parties are obliged to cooperate during the rental relationship. They must immediately notify each other of any circumstances or obstacles relevant to the performance of the contract.
The parties stipulate the exclusive jurisdiction of the Érd District Court for disputes arising from motorcycle rentals. For disputes concerning website use and bicycle rentals, the competent courts in Budapest have jurisdiction.
If any provision of these GTC is invalid, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions.
By placing a booking on www.chopperrent.hu, the Renter declares having read, understood, and accepted these General Terms and Conditions as binding upon themselves.
