Forget the black leather cliches. This snow-white ’97 Virago is brilliant exactly because at first glance it looks like an elegant, immaculate gentleman. Seeing the blindingly shining white tank in the sunlight and the flawless chrome surfaces, unsuspecting passers-by think some peaceful Sunday cruiser is approaching. Then you hit the starter, and the massive 1063cc V2 engine comes alive with a deep, lung-bursting roar that instantly wipes the smile off onlookers’ faces.
This machine is the perfect contrast. When you sit on it, the low-slung seat and wide handlebars immediately force you into a confident, comfortable position in which you could devour kilometers for hours. You won’t want to get off it. In corners, it behaves with such surprising lightness and docility that it almost guesses your thoughts, and the shaft drive delivers that tremendous torque to the rear wheel buttery smooth, without any annoying jerking.
Why will you love it? Because with this motorcycle you get the classic chopper feeling, but in such a striking, clean guise that you will be the main character everywhere. Twist the throttle on an empty country road, feel the rhythm of the V-twin engine shake your chest, and suddenly you realize: therapy is expensive, but this snow-white beast tears every frustration out of you and leaves it on the asphalt.
