There are motorcycles that take you from A to B. And then there is the black Virago 1100, which chews up and spits out your soul along the way – in the best possible sense. This isn’t some modern, over-electronified toy that thinks for you. This is pure metal, raw power, and as much testosterone as could possibly fit into a ’94 model. When you look at this jet-black, mean-looking beast, you know exactly what you’re getting into: there are no compromises here.
With every tiny twist of the throttle, the engine responds with a deep, menacing roar. As you roll out onto the road, the raw vibration of the engine travels straight through your spine to your brain, reminding you that you are sitting on a real, mechanical beast. Here you smell the gasoline, hear the subtle ticking of the valves, and every single gear change is confirmed by a firm, metallic clunk proving that you command the machine.
Who is it for? For anyone who doesn’t want to blend into traffic. For those who enjoy watching storefront windows tremble to the sound of the V2 engine as they cruise through the city, and who know that true freedom begins where the GPS signal ends. If, after a tiring week, you’d rather set the world on fire, rent this black Virago instead. By evening, you are guaranteed to park it on the stand with a wide, unwipeable grin.
